About SableFilms!

Ada Vaughan is best known as the founder of SableFilms in 2007.  Her passion for film and making movies about the passions of women has resulted in the production of five short films with increasingly complex themes.  Each has also required greater skills from the cast and crew.  It also enabled Ada to develop her skills in writing, producing and directing.

The shorts include:  ‘If Only…’ about misunderstanding, ‘The Assault’ about fear, ‘The Tease’ and ‘The Dawning’, about love from unlikely sources and  ‘Fantasy745’, about giving up a memory and moving on.

SableFilms’ work has been shown in numerous film festivals throughout the world, and has received many accolades.  In 2007, Ada was named as one of the emerging 20 at ReelWorld Film Festival in Toronto, Ontario.  In 2009, she won the Bronze Remi at WorldFest Film Festival in Houston, Texas.  In 2010 she is one of the 8 director participants chosen from across Canada in Women in Director’s Chair in Banff.

Ada’s education began with a B.A. at the University of Toronto in Film Studies and various film courses at Ryerson University.  These were complimented by numerous workshops and courses at Women In Film and Television, Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto, Canadian Screen Training Centre, and Hart House Film Board.

Present feature films in development: ‘Suki’, a tragic story about passion set in a Kabuki theatre; ‘Crystals’ is a musical sci fi about the Isle in post catastrophic world; ‘Marco’, about child prostitution and exploitation; ‘Renee’, about finding hope in desperate situations.  Two epics have been added ‘Heart of Heaven’ and ‘Camp X’ to her roster; the former sets in 13th century China and England while the latter in Canada and Europe in WWII.

Ada has been offered to direct ‘Reba’, a story based on the murder of Reena Virk.  It’s produced by Enchanted Productions.

As the accolades roll in on Ada’s films, she continues to develop larger and more provocative projects that will be entertaining audiences around the world for decades.
